I bought these speakers with the idea of using them in the US and also take them to Europe. But when I opened the box and took the subwoofer out I saw that it requires AC 120V voltage. That restricts their usage to the US so I won’t be able to take them to overseas (unless I use a voltage converter with the waste of energy that implies). That was disappointing. In part, it is my fault for not having checked previously, but neither the product web page at Amazon.com nor the official product web page at creative.com specify anything about the required voltage.

The speakers themselves sound great. The set includes a 17W subwoofer, that is more than enough for my needs, and two 6W satellites. Each one includes a central speaker that sounds really good and one tweeter. In my opinion the tweeters make a big difference: guitar sounds are delicious. This is a really good point for these speakers compared to the Logitech X-240, which satellites include only one 5W central speaker.

As a summary, 5 stars for the speakers, 1 star for the lack of information. That makes the 3 stars in my review.

I love these speakers, not only do they have great bass response, warm mids and crisp un-glassy highs, but they’re accurate. They make every recording sound lively and vibrant.

If your thinking ‘You get what you pay for, and those are too cheap.’ Your very wrong. They’re nothing short of fantastic.

Unfortunately, I’m no audiophile, and all my music is encoded in 128kbps, so I can’t comment on the finer audio aspects of the speakers. I can say that they do sound pretty good, and I’ve never had any complaints about the sound, either when playing music or playing games.

However, there are a few details that can be improved. The bass controls are on the subwoofer, so you’re likely to just select a setting and not touch it for a while (setting the dial around the middle works fine). I would have liked to have a control station that has the volume, base, and headset jack, but for the price, you probably can’t expect this. Both satellite speakers plug directly into the subwoofer, and the wires are about equal in length, so keep that in mind if you plan to set the subwoofer over to one side. Also, there’s a blue LED on the right satellite speaker that indicates when it’s on (turn the volume dial to the lowest position to turn it off), and this thing is BRIGHT. When I turned the lights off, with the blue light as the only source of illumination, it literally lit up the entire room. I ended up taping a piece of cardboard over the light to dim it a bit.

Great sound. For a computer system they are more than enough, remember this isn’t your home entertainment system, this is your computer. I have a very modest audio card and I still have to put settings at 50% or less to keep my apartment.
I can make them distort if I turn it up to 80-90%, but then people bang on my door, too. Right now I’m converting my record albums to .mp3′s and I keep ‘flashing back’ to the ’70′s when I first heard these albums and compare the fidelity to be very similar, to those 200 watts amplifiers & 15″ speakers. Very crisp, excellent presence and very accurate. I searched the net for three days looking for the right speakers at this price, and I’m glad I bought them! Excuse me I have some Pink Floyd to listen to.

I was a little apprehensive about buying speakers for my laptop, and it took me awhile to finally make a decision. I have to say that I’m glad I took my time making a decision, because these speakers are so worth it. My living room is 240 sq ft and they sound great from a low to high volume no matter where I’m sitting. Now I’ve only really tried it with music, but today I did try to watch an episode of Fringe, and felt it wasn’t loud enough and could barely hear the dialogue. I would suggest if anyone uses their laptop to watch movies and/or tv they may want to opt for a 5.1 set, but recommend you try the Creative brand.

Great speakers for the price. We use them for gaming and they put out quality sound for the price.

I use these T3100′s for mostly low-level listening at the office–both talk and music–but occasionally will turn the volume up a bit after hours. I am pleased with the bass and clarity. I’ve tried a few other speakers, and though these don’t compete with their predecessor (the T3000′s), I expect you’d have to top the 100-dollar mark to get much improvement (still, I’d go with the similarly priced T3000′s if you can find them).

You’ll also get a little better base sound if you can position the sub several feet away (rather than right at your feet) to help develop the sound wave, but the fairly short cords limit how much adjustment you can make.

I just received these speakers today. Very easy installation. By no means am I an audiophile, but these speakers sound awesome! I like a lot of bass, but without the muffled sound. The bass control really helps to accomplish this, and music is crystal clear. And loud! Excellent product combined with an excellent value. I would definitely recommend. The only reason I gave it four stars was because I just got them. Otherwise, I would give them a five star rating.

If I have these speakers adjusted properly, I can get very nice sound from them. You could use the subwoofer to just shake your desk and make an impression with movies and bass-heavy music. But I’ve found that using the woofer as subtly as possible creates a nice soundstage and makes music played from my hard drive very pleasant to hear.

Don’t put the sub right at your feet if you can avoid it. I moved mine out from under the desk to a corner of the room. If the cords are too short (and they are) cheap extensions with male-female connectors are available. One unfortunate feature is that the bass adjustment is on the subwoofer itself so making adjustments means getting down there and turning it and sitting back down to hear if the effect is right. I’ve found that for most music I want the bass to be turned up just to the point of being able to hear it at all. At that point, sitting in front of the satellites, the soundwaves are blended to the point that you’d think the bass is coming from the little speakers. It’s a very cool effect and with some of my music, I’m actually shocked at how good these things sound for only around forty bucks delivered.

Another plus is the headphone jack. I’m sure it’s nothing too special but it’s noticeably better than the one on my computer. So, even when I’m using phones, this set is improving my music.

For the price, it’s an easy five stars for the T3100.
